Winter Fishing
December - January - February
Winter fishing is a good time to fish the Taylor River Catch and Release area below Taylor Reservoir. The crowds are down and the bite is on. Dressing for the weather is essential as winter temps are often in the single digits, but the rewards are often worth it. The Roaring Judy State Fish Hatchery can also provide some action as these ponds are fed by warm springs. |

Spring Fishing
March - April - May
Ok, it's time to get out and catch some of the best fishing of the season! The Taylor River Catch and Release can be hot!! Pre and Post Spawn Rainbows of astonishing size are being caught every day. Midges and Mysis Shrimp are the ticket. We encourage anglers looking for true trophy trout to book their trips during the spring months. The Gunnison River also awakens after a long frozen winter. Fish are very willing to take flies to try and satisfy the rumbling in their stomachs. This is Pre-Runoff fishing Float Trips and Wade Trips are available. Very low crowds on the "Gunny" in the spring. When flows are right, in the boat and on the Gunnison River is the place to be. |

Summer Fishing
June - July - August
Summer is when the Dry-Fly fishing really heats up! The
Green Drake Hatch can be epic! This is a popular time as returning guests often re-book the last week in June and first two weeks of July for this specific hatch. Gunnison River Guide Float Trips are the hot ticket! (note: middle of May to middle of June is hit and miss on the Gunnison River. It can be great but this is run-off season. Check with us on a daily basis to get up to date reports.) Taylor River fishes well throughout the summer with good Caddis, Stonefly, Mayfly hatches. In June we also see High Mountain Lakes and Back country fishing take-off. |

Fall Fishing
September - October - November
The beginning of fall is a beautiful time of year to fish the Rocky Mountains. Leaves are changing, summer crowds are all but gone, and the fishing is great! Kokanee Salmon are running in the Gunnison and East Rivers. The Blue Wing Olive hatch is in full force. The Brown Trout become extremely aggressive. During the later part of October through November the days are getting shorter and there is very little fishing pressure. The late fall is an awesome time for Half-Day Float Trips. We fish during the hottest part of the day and see some of our best catches of the year. These are healthy fish that are gorging themselves before winter sets in. We highly recommend a fall float for anyone looking for some great fishing!
